Madeline Moyer
Madeline Moyer, 91, of Whitehall, died peacefully April 8, 2023, while a guest of Fellowship Manor.
The loving wife of Richard P. Moyer for 67 years, she was born in Allentown to the late George and Anna (Antolick) Sokol.
A 1950 graduate of Allentown High School, she became a registered nurse in 1953 at The Allentown Hospital School of Nursing.
One of her first nursing jobs was at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, where her husband was stationed.
She also a nurse when they lived in Virginia.
When they returned to the Lehigh Valley, she provided nursing care at Phoebe Home for more than 26 years until her retirement.
The couple raised their family in Fullerton, and enjoyed being part of the Fellowship Community for nearly 20 years.
A long-time member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whitehall, her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, her daughters Sandra J. M. Smith and husband, Bradley, and Linda M. Edwards and husband, Michael; grandchildren Benjamin Edwards and wife, Megan (Fegley), Evan Smith and wife Rachel (Reed), Matthew Edwards and wife Allison (Clinton), and Mallory (Smith) Peterson and husband William; and great-grandchildren Liam, Cora-Jean and the most recent birth of Logan.
She was the last member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister June A. Smith and husband, Harold; brother George Jr. “Buddy” and wife Patricia; and niece Kathleen A. Smith.
Services officiated by the Rev. Dr. Lynnette Delbridge will be 2 p.m. April 22 in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 835 Third St., Whitehall, where her family will receive guests beginning 1 p.m.
Included in her service will be a Nightingale Tribute offered by the St. Luke’s Nurses Honor Guard.
Interment will be private.
