Madeline Moyer, 91, of Whitehall, died April 8, 2023, at Fellowship Manor, Whitehall. She was the wife of Richard P. Moyer for 67 years.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late George and Anna (Antolick) Sokol.
She was a 1950 graduate of Allentown High School. She became a registered nurse in 1953 at the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing.
She worked as a nurse at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi, in Virginia and at The Phoebe Home in the Lehigh Valley for more than 26 years until retiring.
She was a longtime member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whitehall.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Sandra J.M. and her husband Bradley Smith and Linda M. and her husband Michael Edwards; four grandchildren, Benjamin Edwards and his wife Megan Fegley, Evan Smith and his wife Rachel Reed, Matthew Edwards and his wife Allison Clinton and Mallory Peterson and husband William; and three great-grandchildren, Liam, Cora-Jean and Logan.
She was predeceased by a sister, June A. Smith and husband Harold; a brother, George Jr. “Buddy” and wife Patricia; and a niece, Kathleen A. Smith.
Calling time will begin 1 p.m., followed by 2 p.m. services, April 22 at the church, 835 Third St., Whitehall, 18052. A Nightingale Tribute offered by the St. Luke’s Nurses Honor Guard will be included in the service.
Contributions may be made to the church.
