Lewis Lamont Corcoran Jr., 97, of Catasauqua, died April 9, 2023. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Fatzinger) Corcoran for 71 years.

Born in Schenectady, N.Y., he was a son of the late Lewis L. and Eva P. (Hendricks) Corcoran.

He was a 1943 Ridgewood High School graduate. He graduated in 1950 from Bucknell University, majoring in commerce and finance.

He was in the 116th Naval Construction Battalion (Seabees), U.S. Navy, and landed with the American occupation forces in Sasebo, Japan, Kyushu Island, during wartime.

He was in the sheet steel sales department at Bethlehem Steel Corporate Headquarters.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Catasauqua, where he was on council, taught Sunday school and sang on the choir. After the church’s closure, he joined Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, Catasauqua.

He was a classroom volunteer at Sheckler Elementary School. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels. He acted and sang in the Catasauqua Area Showcase Theater productions and volunteered with the senior work crew. He sang with the Macungie Minstrelaires annual shows for several years.

He is survived by a son, Douglas; two daughters, Lynn Corcoran-Stamm and husband Elwood Stamm and Catherine Corcoran and partner Kevin Davis; and a granddaughter, Gretchen Stamm.
