District News: Senior artwork to be on display at high school April 20

There is a senior art show set for 5-6 p.m. April 20. Student artwork will be on display at Northampton Area High School.

Register now for the spring Northampton Area School District community education program, open to residents and nonresidents.

Water aerobics will continue April 20, 25 and 27 and May 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18 and 23 for a $10 drop-in fee. This class will be held at the Northampton Area Middle School pool.

Doors open 7:10 p.m.; the locker room time is 7:15-7:25 p.m.; and the class begins 7:35 p.m.

Adult yoga continues 6:30-7:30 p.m. April 25 for a $10 drop-in fee. Zumba session two continues 6:30-7:30 p.m. April 26 and May 3 and 12, for a $10 drop-in fee. These two classes are in the Siegfried Elementary School multipurpose room. Park in the back of the school by the softball field and flagpole. Enter at the ramp.

Moore Elementary School has spirit days approaching.

• April 21 - Relax and take your time; it’s pajama day.

• April 24 - Wear sweatpants and sneakers; don’t sweat the test!

• April 28 - Don your favorite superhero shirt.

At George Wolf Elementary School, there will be an elementary instrument safari and parent meeting, planned for 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 24.

The evening is for current third- and fourth-grade students who may be interested in joining the elementary orchestra and band programs to sample various instruments, learn more about the programs and meet their potential teachers.

An opioid documentary viewing, a film on the impact of opioids and fentanyl usage in the Lehigh Valley, will be held 6-8 p.m. April 24 in the NAMS library.

A mock teen bedroom will be set up for adults 6 p.m. April 24 in the NAMS cafeteria. Enter the building on the second floor, north side.

This event is a hands-on opportunity to learn how to identify drug paraphernalia and the ways drugs and drug use can be disguised. Learn of current local drug trends and ways to talk to children about drugs and alcohol. There will be resources available to learn about ways and where to find help.

PSSA testing is coming for students in grades 3-8.

The testing window will be April 25-May 3.

The makeup days are May 4 and 5 and 8-12.

A college career and financial aid fair is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. April 26 in the NAHS gymnasium and cafeteria.

Come meet college, career and military representatives, and learn about financial aid.

NAHS spring concerts are approaching. Each performance will be held in the auditorium. The NAHS band will perform 7-8:30 p.m. April 28; the NAHS chorus performs 7-9 p.m. May 5; and the NAHS orchestra will perform 7-8:45 p.m. May 12.
