The Emmaus High School boys lacrosse team suffered its first defeat of the season in dramatic fashion, an 11-10 loss at Wilson West Lawn on Saturday, April 1.
The Hornets bounced back by winning two of their next three contests, all nonconference games. They beat Moravian Academy 15-5 last Monday, April 3, and then took down Saucon Valley 18-0 the following day, but fell to Germantown Academy 13-6 to finish the week on Saturday.
Will Barber led the Emmaus attack with a game-high five goals against the Lions, while adding an assist. John Hughes and Liam Rooney each had hat tricks with Rooney contributing a team-high four assists. Jack Restino netted two goals and Aidan Garrett and Gabe Chies rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece.
Sam Rainford finished with 15 saves for Emmaus.
The Hornets could not get much going against the Patriots, finishing with a season-low six goals. Barber recorded a four-point game, finishing with two goals and two assists. Chies also tallied two goals and both Kaleb Mains and Hughes had a goal, with Mains contributing three assists.
Rainford made 17 saves and grabbed two ground balls.
Emmaus is 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, tied for first in the EPC with fellow unbeatens Parkland (6-1, 4-0), Easton (6-2, 3-0) and Freedom (6-0, 2-0). The Green Hornets hosted Northampton this past Tuesday and concludes the week at home against Southern Lehigh in nonconference action.
