Spring on the Southside will be celebrated Saturday with a focus health and wellness, and events and organizations will be out along the Greenway for everyone’s enjoyment.
The popular Chili Cook-off was moved to October during the pandemic, and popular opinion has made it permanent. ChiliFest is scheduled for Oct. 22.
Southside Arts District Manager Erin Zebertavage said, “We are excited to shift Spring on the Southside to a brand new theme of health and wellness for families. Since COVID there are needs to be served for our community with a focus on health and mental wellness for both adults and children. This year it also still coincides with the annual Cops ‘n’ Kids at NCC-Fowler. Southside Arts District is happy to partnering with Cops ‘N’ Kids in promoting what will be a fun-filled day for families throughout the Southside.”
Zebertavage said art and art-making have shown therapeutic benefits to both physical and mental health. “We are happy to have all of these organizations participating with activities that promote our health.
Local restaurants will have food tables along the Greenway, and organizations such as The Yoga Loft, Coalition for Appropriate Transportation and wholesome planting and art-making activities will feed the soul.
For example, Lehigh Valley Girls Rock President Jennifer Alpha said LVGR will be presenting mini songwriting workshops throughout the afternoon.
