Hellertown to memorialize fire victims

Community members and the Hellertown-Lower Saucon Chamber of Commerce will gather in Morris J. Dimmick Park May 2 at 5 p.m.to dedicate a memorial to two young girls who are deeply missed by their community.

The sisters, Brianna Baer and Abigail Kaufman, tragically lost their lives in a house fire April 1, 2022. In response to this heartbreaking event, the community came together for “Funds for the Family,” a series of events to raise money for a memorial in their honor.

Paid for with proceeds donated from several local participating businesses, the memorial will feature a bench, memorial plaque, and trees that will live on and serve as a testament to the love and compassion of the community that rallied together in their memory.

“The Chamber is not just a ‘Chamber of Commerce,’ but a ‘Chamber of Communities,’” said Jessica O’Donnell-Gower of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber. “Our hope was to bring the community together in their memory and leave something behind to cherish Abigail and Brianna for years to come to celebrate their lives.”

Nicole Miles, manager of the Hellertown-Lower Saucon Chamber, expressed her gratitude toward the community.

“This community is an example of how to be good neighbors,” she said. “In good times and bad, this community supports each other.”
