The Catasauqua High School Alumni Field track dedication ceremony took place on Tuesday, April 11. The track will forever be named “The Willis C. Strein Track at Alumni Field.” The ceremony coincided with the boys and girls home track meet and the senior day ceremony. Strein started the track and field program at Catasauqua in 1963 and coached from 1963-1983. The boys won championships in 1978, 1981, 1984, 1985 and 1988 while the girls won in 1980. Strein coached five track and field state champs: David Strein (Pole Vault – 1974), Lori James (Triple Jump - 1978), Donna Krause (Shot Put – 1983), Deborah Linton (300 m Hurdles – 1984) and Jeffrey Wukitch (1600 m Run – 1993).

Using the large ceremonial scissors, Mr. Strein's daughter, Diane Peters, had the honor of cutting the banner dedicating the Willis C. Strein Track at Alumni Field. Following the cutting of the banner the CHS Track and Field team gave her a round of applause.
