Julie Tamerler, Esq., has announced her candidacy for Lehigh County Magistrate District Judge.

Tamerler graduated with her Bachelor of Arts from Hofstra University, where she triple majored in history, political science and global studies.

She received her Juris Doctor from Villanova Law School, passed the Pennsylvania bar exam and practices law in the Lehigh Valley.

Tamerler clerked for President Judge Michael J. Koury Jr. of the Northampton County Court of Common Pleas, assisting with trials, writing judicial opinions and aiding in overseeing all the magisterial district judges of Northampton County. She is appointed as special master in divorce in Northampton County, where she handles contested divorce cases and holds mediation conferences.

Tamerler sits behind the bench to hold hearings when parties cannot settle, ruling on objections and deciding equitable distribution of assets.

Tamerler has published 150 plus pages of legal scholarship in top-level academic, trade and news publications, focusing upon intellectual property law and business.

“Working in the judicial system as a judicial clerk and a special master for divorce has shown me how important it is that judges have the necessary expertise and education to apply the law fairly and accurately,” she said. “Citizens’ interactions with the judicial system start at the level of district magistrate and I will make sure that everyone who comes to my court understands their rights and how the law applies.”
