Franklin and Dianne Wendling

Franklin “Frank” H. Wendling Jr. and his wife, Dianne L. (Reitz) Wendling, died on April 4, 2023.

The Wendlings were inseparable in life and are together in their death.

Later this month, they would have been married 57 years.

Born in Allentown, Frank was the son of the late Franklin Sr. and Elsie (Rhoads) Wendling.

He spent his working life as an insurance accountant, and the latter portion of his career as an insurance executive and consultant.

An avid fisherman, he never met a trout he did not like. He also enjoyed travel, music and often painfully, the Philadelphia Phillies.

First and foremost, he enjoyed anything with his wife.

Also born in Allentown, Dianne was the daughter of the late Allen and Hazel (Snyder) Reitz.

She spent her working life as a nurse and particularly enjoyed caring for geriatric patients.

She also liked music and travel, as well as needlepoint.

What she enjoyed the most, however, was dancing with the love of her life, Frank.

Their survivors include sons Scott Wendling of Walnutport and Dr. Mark Wendling and wife, Melodie, of Center Valley; and grandsons Matthew and Andrew.

Frank is also survived by siblings Robert “Butch” Wendling of Topton, and Susan and husband, Frank Sterner, of Fleetwood.

Dianne is survived by siblings Richard and wife, Charlotte Reitz, of Montoursville and sister Jean Weida of Allentown.

She was predeceased by her oldest brother Mark Reitz.
