Facchiano announces re-election bid

Carol L. Facchiano has announced her candidacy for re-election to the Parkland School Board.

A seven-year veteran school board director and current board president, Facchiano is seeking a third term beginning with the May 16 Primary.

Having served on the Lehigh Career and Technical Institute Joint Operating Committee and multiple committees within the district, she wants to continue providing experienced leadership to Parkland as it continues to grow and develop.

“My ‘why’ for being a school board director has remained the same - to help make all students successful through their education and opportunities that Parkland has to offer,” she stated.

Citing the education and experience her own children received, she wants that available to current and future Parkland students, she says.

Facchiano began her service to the Parkland School District when her oldest child enrolled at Fogelsville Elementary School in 1995 through their PTO.

As her children got older, she pursued leadership opportunities in the Springhouse Middle School Partnership and Parkland’s Community Advisory Council, she says.

Facchiano says since her election to the school board in 2015, she has served as the board representative for the Parkland Education Foundation, Academics, Arts, Athletics Committee, Personnel and Finance Committee, and Buildings and Grounds.

Facchiano discussed the opportunities and challenges of the position in 2023, including unfunded mandates contributing to cost on taxpayers, charter school funding, and the growth of the district as indicated by the current feasibility study.

“At the end of the day, I want my leadership and decisions to reflect what is best for all students in the district,” Facchiano said. “This is best accomplished through empathy for the parents of Parkland, support for our professional staff, and providing a district that residents can continue to be proud to call home.”
