Curtis Dietrich seeks election as Lowhill Twp supervisor

Curtis Dietrich recently announced his bid for election as Lowhill Township supervisor.

“I have resided in the Northwestern Lehigh community my entire lifetime,” Dietrich said.

“I was raised on a dairy farm near Lynnville, earned a Bachelor’s degree in dairy science from Penn State University, a Master’s of Education from Lehigh University, and Doctorate in educational administration from Lehigh University.”

Dietrich has taught chemistry and biology, and served as an assistant principal, high school principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent of schools.

“While serving as principal of Saucon Valley High School, I was named Pennsylvania’s Principal of the Year,” Dietrich said. “I recently retired as superintendent of schools of the North Penn School District, a district of more than 13,000 students with high school graduating classes of more than 1,000 students and a district budget of almost $300 million dollars.

“All totaled, I have more than 30 years of administrative leadership experience. I also served for 16 years as a member of the Northwestern Lehigh School Board with six years as board president.”

In November 2022, Dietrich was appointed to fill the unexpired term of one of Lowhill’s three supervisors.

“I have extensive experience in zoning matters which is very useful as our township is currently involved in significant litigation regarding large warehouse proposals,” he stated. “I am dedicated to preserving the rural nature of our community and I am very concerned about the potential impact of substantial additional traffic on our overburdened roads.”

Dietrich says he is leading the discussion in Lowhill Township to update its zoning ordinances and has taken steps to improve township communication with residents.

“I am committed to working with planners throughout our region to appropriately plan for generations to come,” Dietrich said. “I have a proven track record as a consensus builder. I use active listening skills to best understand the position of others and I carefully consider all positions before forming my own.”

As a long-serving superintendent of schools, Dietrich says he has extensive experience in dealing with pressure-packed situations.

“During the pandemic, I participated on numerous nationwide panels to discuss the manner in which we could best meet the educational needs of our students with strategies not common to others,” Dietrich said. “I am known as a voice of reason and someone who is sincere, honest and gracious. I am committed to continuing my service to our community.”
