Board discusses traffic light color plans for intersection

South Whitehall commissioners recently discussed traffic lights at the intersection of Cedar Crest Boulevard and Walbert Avenue.

The March 15 discussion was a confirmation of a powder-coated black color for mast arms, poles and other components.

“I wanted to just make sure the board was aware of this and that it is the intention of the township to try to seek to allow for this type of aesthetic upgrade for all signalized intersections in the future and along that corridor, if possible,” Township Manager Tom Petrucci said.

Commissioner Brad Osborne also commented.

“As I travel west on Route 22 and get off on Cedar Crest Boulevard, right, it is not a very nice entrance into South Whitehall,” Osborne said. “What we can do is what you’re doing and that is the next major intersection going north on Cedar Crest.

“It is going to have a nice striking look, especially if we can make it uniform.

“That’s something we can do that adds a lot of attractiveness to the township.

“Thank you very much to you and staff for thinking about that because it’s often overlooked, but it really is so important.”
