Pennsylvania State Police Troop M, Bethlehem, is investigating an April 4 fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred in East Allen Township, Northampton County.
According to a PSP news release, troopers were dispatched just before 1:30 p.m. for the report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Airport Road and Portland Drive in East Allen Township.
Upon investigation, it was determined a 2020 Ram 5500 hauling a 2018 flatbed trailer and a 2002 Honda VTX motorcycle made contact at the intersection of the roadway.
Northampton County Coroner Zachary R. Lysek reported a 31-year-old female, identified as Samantha N. Loch, of Lehigh Township, was pronounced dead at the scene. Loch was a passenger on the motorcycle.
The official cause of her death is multiple blunt force injuries. The manner of death is accidental, according to the coroner’s office.
The operator of the motorcycle, Jason Izon, 44, of Lehigh Township, was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg.
He died April 7, according to a news release from the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
The cause of death is multiple blunt force injuries due to the motor vehicle collision, Coroner Daniel Buglio said. The manner of death is accidental.
There were no injuries to the operator or passenger of the truck, police said.
Assisting at the scene were Troop M Forensic Services Unit, Troop M Collision Analysis Reconstruction Unit, East Allen Township Ambulance, Bethlehem Township Ambulance, Allen Township Fire Department, Northampton Fire Department, Northampton Regional EMS and the Northampton County Coroner.
