Democrat Ken Snyder is seeking a seat on the Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners.
He said there are four major areas of concern for the township - parks and recreation, public safety, personnel transition and taxes.
“I believe that these areas are currently in need of special scrutiny,” Snyder said. “When elected, I promise the citizens of Whitehall that I will take special care in looking into these areas and make improvements.”
Snyder has held roles on the boards of directors for Whitehall Township Public Library, the Whitehall ambulance corps and the Whitehall Area Chamber of Commerce. He also served as a past president for the Chamber.
Snyder previously served on the township planning commission and the comprehensive recreation committee. He is a current member of the traffic impact committee.
As a business owner in Whitehall for 46 years, he has helped develop several residential communities in the township.
Snyder is a 1971 Whitehall High School graduate. His wife, Linda (Dech), graduated from WHS in 1973. They will celebrate their 49th anniversary in May.
His three children - Kristie, Craig and Kerrie Anne - are also all WHS graduates. All eight of his grandchildren also attend the Whitehall-Coplay School District.
“We have been entrenched in Whitehall for 67 years,” Snyder said.
