The North Catasauqua Police Department would like to inform residents April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

During National Child Abuse Prevention Month, our country stands as one to condemn and combat child abuse in all of its forms, including physical, emotional and sexual abuse, as well as online sexual exploitation.

We raise awareness about the risk factors that can lead to child abuse and neglect, and we highlight the importance of supporting families to prevent child maltreatment.

As a nation, we must work together to prevent and address child abuse and ensure every child can grow up in a safe environment and live a happy, prosperous life.

April is also Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This campaign aims to increase awareness about the causes and risk factors for sexual assault and empower individuals to take steps to prevent it in their communities.

Since 2001, the National Sexual Violence Research Center has coordinated annual programming, developing materials and resources for organizations and agencies to use. The campaign works with a variety of nonprofit organizations and foundations to spread the message of awareness and prevention through educational programs, public events and petitions for legislative action.
