NASD community education coordinator resigns

The longtime coordinator of the community education program in Northampton Area School District has resigned.
The resignation of Sandra Bischof, NASD community education program coordinator, effective June 3, was accepted by a 7-0 vote at the March 13 school board meeting.
In a separate 7-0 vote, the board approved the revised list of anticipated community education classes and roster of instructors with stipends for the spring session of the 2022-23 school year.
The NASD board voted 9-0 at the Dec. 5, 2022, meeting to approve Bischof as community education program coordinator for the spring session at $3,000. Stipends and the roster of instructors were approved in the vote.
Bischof was also approved by a 9-0 vote at the Sept. 12, 2022, board meeting as coordinator for the fall session, at $2,000.
Spring classes resumed in February and continue through April. Typical classes include Zumba, yoga, water aerobics, lap swim and country line dancing. Classes are open to NASD residents and nonresidents.
In other business at the March 13 board meeting, school directors voted 7-0 to approve:
• Resignations for retirement, effective June 2, for Lisa Paulus, reading instructional assistant, and LeeAnn Hildebrand, special education instructional assistant, and the resignation of Brenda Oswald, cafeteria monitor, Franklin Elementary School, effective Feb. 21;
• Half-year sabbaticals, professional development, second semester, 2023-24 school year, for Laura McHugh and Allison Fiorini;
• Assistant Superintendent Dr. Michelle Schoeneberger’s salary adjustment of $150,000 for 2023-24 school year. Other contents in Schoeneberger’s contract remain the same;
• Director of Human Resources Dr. Michael Alogna’s salary adjustment of $130,000 for the 2023-24 school year. Other contents in Alogna’s contract remain the same;
• The attendance of Nicolette Teles, supervisor of grants and special programs, at PAFPC-PA Association of Federal Program Coordinators Conference, April 16-19, Kalahari Pocono Resort and Convention Center, Pocono Manor, at a cost of $882.42, included in 2022-23 board-approved curriculum department budget;
• The attendance of Alana Heller and Melinda McCann, club advisers, for the Odyssey of the Mind state competition, April 1 at Lock Haven University, at a cost of $3,570.16, included in 2022-23 board-approved curriculum department budget;
• Board policy adoption and revisions, second reading: attendance, purchases subject to bid-quotation, purchases budgeted, federal fiscal compliance and nonschool organization, group, individual participation in the school setting;
• Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit student driver education program agreement;
• 2023-24 Northampton Community College budget of $69,957,018 with NASD portion of $917,646;
• Confidentiality and nondisclosure agreement between JW Development Partners and NASD for NASD to receive from JW confidential information regarding properties owned by JW along Howertown, Seemsville and Cesanek roads, Allen Township. The properties are the subject of tax assessment appeals filed by NASD under one appeal with Northampton County Revenue Appeal Board and Court of Common Pleas of Northampton County;
• Revised school calendar for 2022-23 school year.
The board of education holds its next meeting 6:30 p.m. April 17 in the Northampton Area High School auditorium, 1619 Laubach Ave., Northampton.
