While most spring high school sports just got underway a couple weeks ago, the boys tennis season is more than halfway over.
Salisbury is 4-4 overall and 3-2 in Colonial League matches heading into this week with five matches left on its schedule.
Unbeaten Moravian Academy handed the Falcons their second league loss, 5-0 on Monday afternoon. That match followed a 5-2 nonleague to Quakertown Saturday.
A 4-1 win over Bangor last Thursday gave the Falcons their third league win of the season. Nolan Grejda won his No. 1 singles match against the Salters, while Jacob Knerr took the No. 3 singles match for the Falcons.
Blaine Berger and Jackson Kramp teamed up for a doubles win in a tight match (3-7, 7-5, 7-5). Mo Suleiman and Ahmed Suleiman pulled out a No. 2 doubles match that went to tiebreaker in two of the three sets.
A day before beating Bangor Salisbury shut out Notre Dame (Green Pond). Individual match scores were not received from that match, which was played in Green Pond.
The Falcons earned a 5-0 win over Jim Thorpe on Tuesday, March 21. Singles players Nolan Grejda, Tristan Monahan and Jacob Knerr all won in straight sets, while the Falcons’ only doubles team that took the court, Mo Sulieman and Ahmed Sulieman, won 6-0, 6-0. The other doubles match was forfeited by the Olympians.
Salisbury dropped its next match 5-0 to Saucon Valley last Thursday. Knerr came close to pulling out his team’s only win but dropped a 10-8 tiebreaker set after winning the first set 6-4 then losing the second one 6-3.
