Freedom’s boys’ lacrosse is picking up right where they left off last season. The defending District 11 3A champs are 5-0 on the season and show no signs of letting up.
Finishing last season 17-5 with their first district championship in school history, head coach Tony Fabrizio is confident his group can make another run in the postseason.
“We have some of the area’s best players on every side of the ball,” Fabrizio said. “I think we will match up well with teams this year. We’re looking to show that last year wasn’t a fluke. We’ve embodied the motto ‘No one Cares, Work Harder.’ No one cares we won last year, we need to work harder to be the best again this year.”
Freedom’s prime returners this season include seniors Alex Hume, Jake Ballerini, Eli White and Ryan Hathaway. Juniors Jared Karibinus, Alex Greenburg, Jonah Ortwien and Tony Solivan also make up the core of the roster.
The Pates have crushed all of their opponents this season, including a 13-2 win over Central Catholic and an 11-2 win over Northwestern.
“I think Parkland, Central, Emmaus and Easton will all be tough games like normal,” Fabrizio said. “I think we will get everyone’s best game this year so we need to be prepared for that. I think our goal every year is to be better than the last. We’re hoping to continue that this year.”
Alex Hume is back for the FHS boys.
