LHS girls hoping hard work pays off

Coming off last year’s 3-15 season, Liberty’s girls’ lacrosse has a new coach in Samantha Weinert leading the charge for the Hurricanes.

Weinert wants to see improvement from the program and hopes the work the team has put in can pay off this spring.

“I look forward to this upcoming season and to show everyone the hard work the girls have put in during the offseason,” she said. “We’re looking to close the gap between our opponents from last season.”

Back for the Hurricanes are Sophia Cstari (Junior, Mid); Sarah Fitzpatrick (Senior, Mid); Yanna Bozakis (Senior, Attack); Camryn Copf (Senior, Defense); Malia Lockhart (Sophomore, Defense); Jillian Mayes (Senior, Defense); Marren Broesicke (Junior, Attack) and Emma Crosson (Junior, Defense).

Newcomers include a trio of freshmen Ellis Corr (Midfield), Julianna Zumas (Midfield) and Erika Broesicke (Goalie).

The ‘Canes have started the season 1-5, but have games against Northampton, Pleasant Valley and Freedom this week.
