In the season opener, the Salisbury softball team put up 21 runs against Dieruff (0-1 EPC, 0-2 overall), with Beth Carney throwing a no-hitter. In the two games since then, the Lady Falcons have managed just two runs, while allowing 23 runs in losses to Saucon Valley (1-0, 2-0) and Northwestern Lehigh (2-0, 3-0).
Against the Lady Tigers, Salisbury (0-2 Colonial, 1-2 overall) had three hits with two of them coming off the bat of Carney, who also drew a walk. Ava Grube had the only other hit for the Falcons.
Carney started all three games and pitched well despite all the runs that have been allowed. The junior pitcher has been victimized by errors, including four in the loss to Saucon Valley that resulted in 12 of the 13 runs allowed being unearned. Salisbury committed four more errors in the five-inning loss to Northwestern Lehigh.
Salisbury’s Monday night game against Northern Lehigh (0-2, 1-2) was rained out. The Falcons will be playing at Southern Lehigh (1-0, 1-0) Thursday before hosting Palmerton (2-0, 3-0) on Monday.
