Emmaus girls beat ACC

The Emmaus girls track and field team dominated another opponent on their 2023 schedule last Tuesday.

The Green Hornets received several outstanding performances in defeating Central Catholic 132-18 at Emmaus High School. Emmaus won every competition except for one.

Abigail Burnett won the 100-meter dash with a 13.2 time, while teammate Elizabeth Burns claimed the 200 and Kyla Moore was tops in the 400.

Emmaus coach Kami Reinhard’s distance runners also proved too much for the Vikings. Freshman Madelyn McCartney took the 800, while Addison Johnson won the 1,600 and Hailey Reinhard claimed the 3,200.

“Madelyn is ready to attack those distance races,” Kami Reinhard said. “She has a strong middle school track and field experience.”

The superlative work continued in hurdles as Kayla-Rayne Quinones won the 100-meter hurdles and Hadlee Horvath claimed the 300 hurdles. The Green Hornets swept the three relay events.

In the field Emmaus was just as good. Sheldyne Pierre took care of business by winning the high jump and triple jump. Keira Gilboy won the pole vault and Morgan Fletes was best in the long jump.

“Morgan has shown significant improvement in several different event groups,” Kami Reinhard said. “We are really excited for her this season.”

Catherine Sirignano did a fine job in winning the shot put and discus throw.

The Green Hornets are scheduled to host Whitehall on April 4 and Easton two days later.
