EHS boys tennis falls to LHS

The Emmaus boys tennis program suffered a loss to Liberty last Thursday afternoon, 7-0.

The Hornets’ No. 1 Eddy Chow was defeated by the Hurricanes’ Roman Farhad 6-2, 6-0, while Emmaus No. 2 Nick Stone lost by the same score to Luke Appleman. The news was no better from Zach Moser, the Hornets’ No. 3 singles player, who was defeated 6-1, 6-0 by Liberty’s David Broczkowski.

The Emmaus doubles teams is an area Emmaus coach Fred Saab was cautiously optimistic about this year. Most of this season the boys have played well, but struggled against the ‘Canes. No. 3 Sarresh Senguttuvan and Quaid Peatiwal did press Liberty’s Elijah Quan and Jacksen Jobes in their first set encounter, but lost 6-4. The Emmaus duo provided less resistance in the second set, losing 6-0.

“Sarresh is a hard worker and put in a lot of hours in the off-season,” Emmaus coach Fred Saab said. “Quaid is a strong left-handed player.”

No. 4 Emmaus doubles Abdoul Aidala and Cole Stuchko did their best against Matt Alter and Finn Brown, but lost 6-2, 6-1.

“Abdoul has been playing tennis for many years,” Saab said. “He has an excellent technical stroke and is a strong player. Cole is tall and athletic and likes to play the net.”

Emmaus is scheduled to visit Easton on April 3, host Northampton on April 5 and close out the week at Freedom on April 6.
