Egg hunts April 8 will get you hopping

Egg hunters have opportunities to hone their skills in the early days of April.
On April 8 Upper Milford Western District Fire Company No. 1 will host an Easter Egg Hunt 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the station, 6341 Chestnut St., Zionsville.
The day will include fire truck tours, a coloring contest, pictures with the Easter bunny and raffle baskets.
Also on April 8, the Vera Cruz Community Association will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt at Mystic Chain Park starting promptly 1 p.m.
The park is located at 3718 Main Road East.
Weather permitting, the eggs will be placed on the park lawn for hunters to find. The egg hunt will be a drive-thru event if it rains.
If sandwiches are more satisfying to you, the Lower Milford Township Fire Company is taking orders for its monthly hoagie sale until April 15. Orders are due by 5 p.m. that day. Pickup with be 6-8 p.m. April 18.
Sandwich fans may choose from hoagie or sandwich offerings.

Upper Milford Township residents, mark your calendars for the annual Earth Day Cleanup April 22.
Township residents join forces with neighbors from the Borough of Emmaus and other volunteers 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Projects include clearing litter and other debris from sites in the township and Emmaus borough. Volunteers also are needed to help clear invasive plant species from buffer areas near the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus and the meadow near Emmaus Community Pool.
Volunteers meet at Emmaus Community Park, Shimerville Road at South 14th Street early on cleanup day morning.
Electronics recycling and document shredding also will be offered at the park for township and borough residents.

Lower Milford Township is accepting applications for an administrative assistant. Visit the township website and check the “employment opportunities” page for details.
Applications also are welcome for a volunteer to represent Lower Milford Township on the Southern Lehigh Public Library board of directors. The application deadline has been extended to April 17. The Southern Lehigh Public Library is the home library for Lower Milford Township residents. Interested volunteers may visit the township website, www.lowermilford.org, for a full job description.
Other openings in the township include a delegate for the joint building board of appeals as well as someone interested in filling the remainder of a term on the historic commission.
The Seed Farm, 5854 Vera Cruz Road, Upper Milford Township, is seeking volunteers to help prepare for and staff its ninth annual spring plant sale May 13 and 14.
Volunteers are needed to help pot and label plants before the sale, set up for the sale and during the sale with tasks such as helping visitors with parking.

The next board of supervisors meeting starts 6:30 p.m. April 20 at the township municipal building, 7607 Chestnut Hill Church Road.
The Upper Milford Township board of supervisors will meet April 6 and April 20. Meetings begin 7 p.m. at the township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St. An online option also is available.
