Northampton’s baseball team got off to a 3-0 start, but the Konkrete Kids have suddenly hit a snag.
The Kids (3-2) dropped a 10-2 decision to host Bethlehem Catholic Monday afternoon, marking their second straight defeat. Northampton suffered its first defeat to Liberty, 11-1, last Friday (See page A10).
It was a game that the Kids should put quickly behind them. Becahi plated a pair of runs in both the first and second before they erupted for a six-run third. Northampton had a pair of runs in the second.
“We’re not going to win many games when you have eight errors, seven walks, and a hit batter,” offered head coach Mick Sugra. “It just wasn’t our day.”
Kids starter Evan Hughes issued six runs over 2.1 innings. He walked three and struck out one.
Erick Castro, San Erschen, and Matt Merced followed in relief. Erschen threw two hitless and scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Dylan Fosko had a pair of hits and an RBI for the Kids.
Northampton was back in action Wednesday, after Press deadlines, when it hosted Emmaus (5-1). The Kids will also host Fleetwood Thursday and North Pocono Saturday.
“We have a busy week,” added Sugra. “We’ll keep plugging away and figure it out.”
