Scout Troop 93 hosts dinner fundraiser
Boy Scout Troop 93, of Northampton, strives to shape a future generation of young boys as they grow into successful, contributing members of their families and the community.
These Scouts, parents and volunteers served up a spaghetti dinner for patrons and troop members March 25 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 19th Street and Lincoln Avenue, Northampton.
The funds raised will benefit the troop. Troop 93 Scoutmaster Steve Bindics and troop leader Seth Guindine helped coordinate the dinner.
Bindics noted the troop charges no fees for its membership. Fundraising events, like this spaghetti dinner, raise money for the troop instead of required dues.
Bindics said he was delighted with the steady stream of patrons at the dinner, which included spaghetti with meatballs, salad, garlic bread, ice cream and refreshments.
The dinner was successful for attendees, as the Boy Scouts, leaders and volunteers worked together to serve the meals. The staff in the kitchen included adults and kids who helped serve the dinners.
Albert Czanker, ticket seller, politely greeted patrons as they paid for their dinners, which could be eaten at the church or taken home to enjoy.
It was evident the Scout troop took satisfaction in achieving their goals to serve patrons a tasty meal. In return, diners agreed they were more than happy to assist a younger generation toward a successful future.
According to Bindics and his leadership team, they labor to have the boys in their charge from Tenderfoot to Eagle Scout to learn the fundamentals of Scouting and the rigors of achieving goals that lead to success. Bindics and his team understand kids want to have fun throughout their Scouting experience.
Their success is clear, as the troop continues to grow. The troop membership has grown to 21 members and with two Scouts nearing Eagle preparations. Bindics was ecstatic about the membership growth and his two Eagle candidates.
Troop 93 of the Minsi Trails Council, Boy Scouts of America, was formed in February 1943. The troop was sponsored by St. Paul’s UCC.
