Northampton: Gun buyback set for April 15

The Northampton County District Attorney’s Office, with assistance from Northampton Borough’s police and fire departments, will hold a gun buyback 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 15 at the fire station, 4 Lerchenmiller Drive.

Residents wishing to dispose of their unused, unwanted firearms are asked to transport them to the station unloaded and in the trunk of the vehicle.

Rifles, handguns, shotguns and semi-automatic weapons will be accepted.

Those turning in their weapons will receive grocery gift cards ranging from $50 to $200 as payment.

Reminder: Pink Pumpkins Coins 4 Chemo has a Spring Fling Easter egg hunt, basket raffle and craft and vendor fair scheduled for 9 a.m.-2 p.m. April 8 at Tri-Boro Sportsmen Club, 2110 Canal St. Registration for the egg hunt, for children up to age 12, will be 10-11:30 a.m. The egg hunt begins noon.

Proceeds benefit patients in treatment now through Lehigh Valley Health Network’s Prager Patient Fund.

Northampton AARP Chapter 3915 will meet April 12 at Northampton Banquet and Event Center, 1601 Laubach Ave. Doors open 11 a.m.

All members, and those interested in membership, are encouraged to attend.

The guest speaker will be Mary Bach from the state office in Harrisburg.

Bus trips will be on display at the trip table.

Attendees must bring local and national membership cards and are asked not to bring refreshments to the meeting.

Veterans Outreach Day will be 9 a.m.-2 p.m. April 22 at Queenship of Mary Church, 1324 Newport Ave. The event is sponsored by Northampton Joint Veterans Association and the Valley Health Partners Veteran Health program.

Many veteran-based organizations will be present to provide information, support and services for all veterans, their families and their caretakers.

An all-you-can-eat pork and sauerkraut dinner, basket raffle and bake sale is planned for 4-7 p.m. April 22 at Grace United Church of Christ, 902 Lincoln Ave.

The dinner is available for dine-in or takeout.

The menu includes pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, dinner roll, dessert and beverages.

Children’s dinners of a hot dog, for ages 10 and under, will be available.

Tickets can be purchased at the door.
