Tina Jo Koren, the elected tax collector and treasurer of Whitehall Township, has formally announced the start of her mayoral candidacy.
Koren said she is the only candidate on the ballot who can fix the “very obvious issues in Whitehall Township.” The current administration is widely perceived by residents as inefficient and mismanaged, wasting taxpayer dollars with little to show for it, Koren added.
“Whitehall residents are heavily taxed, yet crime and quality-of-life issues are frequent complaints of many Whitehall residents,” Koren said, adding Whitehall’s pools are closed during the summer and the township can’t support its fire department.
These are immediate issues that will be resolved under her administration, she said.
Since starting as tax collector in January 2022, Koren said she completely revamped all administrative functions of the Whitehall Township tax office to ensure all taxpayer money is handled with high levels of care and efficiency.
“Every function and process in the tax office is now reviewed constantly,” Koren said.
She previously had a 41-year career with the Pennsylvania State Police as an management administrator and was responsible for the management of administrative personnel and assisted in human resource functions for all enlisted members. She also served 19 years on the Whitehall-Coplay School Board.
