John R. Gioielli, 95, died April 1, 2023. He was the husband of the late Barbara A. (Kovach) for 36 years.
Born in Richmond Hill, N.Y., he was a son of the late Ralph and Anna (Giordano) Gioielli.
He was in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and was on board the USS Greensboro. He was later in the headquarter division of the New Jersey National Guard.
He was a mechanical draftsman for 50 years at F.L. Smidth, formerly the Fuller Company, Catasauqua, and worked for a time for Fuller Company in England.
He was a member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church, Catasauqua.
He is survived by three sons, Ralph and his wife Connie Gioielli of Emmaus, Frank Lusk and his wife Sally of Garner, N.C., and Mark Gioielli and his wife Krystal of Catasauqua; two daughters, Barbara and her husband Frank Wadusky of Whitehall and Jennifer of Slatington; a brother, Lawrence Gioielli and his wife Kathy; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Beatrice (Apgar) Lusk; a sister, Ann Dunn and her husband Albert; and a son-in-law, Charles Luckenbach.
There will be a calling time 9-10:40 a.m. April 10 at the funeral home, 1064 Fifth St., North Catasauqua. A Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. April 10 at the church, 1239 Third St., North Catasauqua.
