St. John’s United Church of Christ, 575 Grape St., needs your shoes. The church is collecting gently used or new shoes of all sizes and varieties for adults and children.

St. John’s is partnering with Friedens UCC in Berks County to raise funds for a two-week mission trip to Peru to help rebuild houses.

The goal is to collect 5,000 pounds of shoes. The shoes will be refurbished, if necessary, and sent to Third World countries. Pair the shoes by tying the laces together or using a rubber band. A collection basket is in the coatroom by the sanctuary.

The deadline for shoes is April 9.

St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, 618 Fullerton Ave., is planning to hold a Night at the Races event April 15 in the parish hall.

The doors will open 5:30 p.m., and the races begin 6:30 p.m.

The menu for the evening consists of pork barbecue, macaroni and cheese, snacks, chips, soft drinks and beer. Other beverages are BYOB.

Tickets will be on sale after Masses and at parish breakfasts. There are only 120 horses available, so get your name in early.

Order forms may be dropped off at the school or church office.

St. Elizabeth’s music ministry is having a spring flower coupon sale through May 1.

The coupons are redeemable at Garden City Greenhouse, 1422 Fourth St., North Catasauqua. Coupons can be used anytime throughout the year.
