Easter egg hunt a hit in Catasauqua
The annual Catasauqua Borough Easter egg hunt, hosted by the fire department, returned to the community playground on American Street April 2.
Children from a variety of age groups waited patiently as the emergency first responders covered the lawn with colorful Easter eggs filled with candies and other treats. Some specialty eggs led to larger prizes.
The hunt fell on a beautiful spring day with a crystal blue sky, bright sun and a light breeze. As the egg hunt was divided into age groups, each division was called one at a time to run freely.
The oldest age group had the largest group of children in attendance. After their group was called, a large flock of children could be seen running and filling up the grassy space before them, swiping up all of the remaining brightly colored eggs. The rainbow-colored area quickly turned back to green, and each and every egg found a home in the children’s decorative baskets.
Although the event was very quick, the kids could be seen laughing, smiling and enjoying their newly found treats. The first responders were also in high spirits and could be found passing out additional candies to children as they exited the hunt area.
The annual egg hunt was a success and would not have been made possible without the aid of the Catasauqua and North Catasauqua firefighters.
