Council members recognize hero
At the March 1 Hanover Township, Lehigh County, Council meeting, council members honored a hero in their community. Council Chairman Bruce Paulus read and presented a proclamation on behalf of council and the community to Sharon Steitz.
Paulus declared March 2 as Sharon Steitz Day in Hanover Township. Steitz courageously entered the home of Joseph and Virginia Hook, her elderly neighbors, and escorted them from their burning home to safety Jan. 13.
Steitz was thanked by all of council and the Hooks, who were on hand for her recognition, which noted her quick action and bravery to save them from the fire.
In other matters, council approved Resolution 2023-32 to grant final land development for Patriot American Parkway, lot 2, Exeter Land, 1701 Dauphin St., Allentown.
Resolution 2023-33 was pulled by the requester about final land development for Patriot American Parkway, lot 3, Exeter Land, 1112 American Parkway, Allentown.
Patriot American Park, on American Parkway in Allentown, is an office complex consisting of more than 500,000 square feet on about 140 acres of land in Hanover Township, Lehigh County. The building has a two-wing design with a center, open-air atrium that is three stories high.
The developer plans more than 200,000 square feet of industrial space. The property is part of the EQT Exeter group. The group is a global operation that acquires, develops, leases and manages logistics, office, life science and residential properties.
Council also voted to authorize township Manager Melissa Wehr to release payment three to Wexcon Inc. for the Allendale sanitary replacement project in the amount of $158,613.34.
Wexcon Inc. is an industrial utility contracting company based in Mohrsville that contracts with private companies, the state and local municipalities.
The next council meeting is set for 7 p.m. April 5 in the municipal building, 2202 Grove Road. It is an in-person meeting only.
