National Honor Society inducts new members

The National Honor Society induction ceremony will be held March 30. This ceremony will induct new sophomore and junior students that excel both academically and in the community. NHS co-presidents, vice president and treasurer will give speeches about what it means to be an NHS member and what is expected of them. The induction ceremony will begin 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

The NHS ceremony will also include the induction of new officers for this prestigious organization for the 2023-2024 school year. These officers who will take control when the next school year starts will shadow those in the position for the remainder of the school year. They will learn what to do, how to do it and much more.

Officers for next year are myself as president, Jacob Knerr as vice president, Macy Newman as secretary and George Spann as treasurer.

The NHS Easter Egg Hunt will be 10 a.m. to noon April 6 on the Salisbury High School baseball field. This is the mark of the first day of spring break for all students. Members are expecting a fantastic turnout with over 70 kids from grades kindergarten through fifth grade. Members will also be at this event helping out and enjoying the moment with those who have signed up.

The Class of 2024 held an Easter ham fundraiser which ended March 24. They were selling Premium Boar’s Head sweet slice boneless uncured smoked hams. The estimated delivery for those who ordered is April 4. Orders can be picked up this day between 5 and 6 p.m. at SHS. All profits go toward planning next year’s events for a fun-filled senior year.

Spring sports teams have had their first games of the season and are preparing to play many more throughout the months of April and May. The boys tennis team has won two matches so far and are expected to play three matches this week. The baseball and softball teams have each won a game and are looking forward to what this week brings.
