Lower Milford Township seeks applicant for two township positions
March 16 marked the monthly Lower Milford Township board of supervisors regular meeting.
The meeting began without public comment and quickly moved to approve the February meeting minutes, township treasurer’s report and payment of the March bills.
In the administrator’s report, a highlight pointed out by township administrator Emily Fucci was that the 2023 State Liquid Fuels payment was received in the amount of $228,794.28.
Public works crews filled potholes on Wasser Road, graded ditches on School House Lane, Elm Road, Peach Lane, Wasser Road and Buhman Road and removed trees and debris from County Line Road.
The Macungie Ambulance report showed five calls to Lower Milford Township for the month of February. The report showed the annual call volume for the last five years has jumped from 3,728 in 2018 to 4,967 in 2022.
In new business, it was announced the township secretary had been terminated. Fucci will be picking up the responsibilities of the position for the remainder of 2023.
Following the announcement, the supervisors approved the reorganization and adoption of the new township staff job descriptions and responsibilities information.
The next item was the announcement the township has a job vacancy for an administrative assistant. This will be posted on the township website, Facebook and other job search sites.
The township is still searching for a Southern Lehigh Public Library board representative. If anyone is interested, reach out through the township website.
Next, authorization was given to advertise the 2023 road bids. The supervisors then awarded the 2023 lawn care bid to Little Creek Farms Lawn Care. It was noted this is a new company, as the township was disappointed with the previous company’s work.
The supervisors authorized Cowan Associates to review the Maplewood Escrow Agreements and provide new construction cost estimates for 2023.
Docket 23-02 was an appeal from Joseph Mahalick for a special exception for roof-mounted solar panels on the property. There was no formal discussion on the appeal and they won’t be sending a representative to the hearing. Supervisors seemed to be in favor of the appeal.
The next discussion was on allocating the remaining American Rescue Plan Act Funds toward the Limeport WWTP Sewer Fund. Fucci said the amount was right around $107,000. There are a couple of unpaid bills for work on the sewer system and more upcoming work. This was approved.
The last item in new business was a request from the Borough of Macungie for Lower Milford Township Fire Police assistance during the Antique Truck Show (June 16 and June 17), Das Awkscht Fescht car show (Aug. 4, 5 and 6) and Wheels of Time car show (Aug. 25, 26 and 27).
The meeting moved to correspondence; however, there wasn’t much discussion on the five line items.
Upper Milford Township is seeking a DCNR Grant for Lenape Park Restorations.
The Lehigh Valley Planning Commission 2022 Annual Organization Report was received.
The supervisors highlighted the State Transportation Commission’s 2023 Public Outreach Campaign for an update on the 12-year program. The website to find out more is TalkPATransportation.com.
The only other item of action by supervisors was the approval of a motion to send the township’s public works foreman to the Lehigh and Northampton County Vector Borne Disease Control Program.
The meeting then adjourned.
