LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently enrolled in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. The first names of my family include Mike, my dad, and Angie, my mom. My older sister is named Maddie, I have a younger brother named Andrew and a dog named Sadie.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subjects would be English and history, like World Studies. This past year I also took sociology and I found that really interesting. I love to write and express creativity, which is part of my love for English, and I’ve always liked learning about the past and everything that’s come before us in history classes. Sociology I just found interesting because it was something I’ve never learned about before and I’ve always loved to think about psychological and sociological aspects of our lives.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I have made honor roll or principal’s honor roll every year of high school. I have also received awards for academic excellence every year and I am a member of National Honor Society.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?

A. I am involved in the high school newspaper, The Stinger. I am also a member of Hornet Ambassadors and I currently work at the customer service desk at Giant. Previously, I’ve worked at a dog kennel and for a data entry company, as well as frequently babysitting for multiple families. In the past, I played volleyball and volunteered at the DaVinci Science Center as a camp counselor. All of these activities have shaped the way I am today and have given me so much helpful life experience. I’ve grown in many ways and made so many friends and met so many people through all of them and I’m grateful for every one.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. I would consider my biggest challenge being facing the pandemic. I know that’s kind of a basic answer, but it changed my life in so many ways and it helped me grow in ways that I don’t think would have happened without it. We all had to learn how to live in isolation and it helped me learn a lot of things about myself, and I’m glad to have accomplished that growth so early in my life.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. After high school, I plan to attend Drexel University to study communications on a five year plan to work in three different co-op experiences.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I admire my mom and dad for their hard work in everything they do. They’ve both worked so hard my whole life, I really don’t know what it’s like to see them stop moving. They are both health care providers, so watching them go to work during the pandemic was incredibly inspiring for my brother and I and we are so lucky to have them as role models. They have shown me what a real work ethic looks like.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered as a selfless person who always tries to do things in the best interest of those around her. I want to have made a positive impact on others’ lives and brought them a lot of happiness and joy.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. My advice for my peers would be to be kind to those around you and to value every day for what it brings. In a few months we’re all going to be in college, and it’s going to move really fast, so just enjoy every day and get as much out of them as you can!
