Joshua Madera matched to residency
Joshua Madera, of Bethlehem, was assigned a residency placement by the Commonwealth School of Medicine (Geisinger Commonwealth) during the National Resident Matching Program’s “Match Day” on March 17.
Hilgert receives ‘Above & Beyond’ award
ArtsQuest CEO Kassie Hilgert has been awarded City & State Pennsylvania’s “Above & Beyond Women Award.” Hilgert is one of 50 exceptional women to be honored for their accomplishments in politics, media, education and nonprofits.
City & State’s Above & Beyond Gala took place March 14 at The Crystal Team Room in Philadelphia. U.S. Representative Chrissy Houlahan (PA 6th) served as keynote speaker.
Hilgert will also be featured in a special issue of 2023 Above & Beyond Women Magazine available now.
Honorees were nominated by their peers for their important contributions to the commonwealth.
Singer appointed NCC provost
Northampton Community College has appointed Dr. Marc Singer as provost and vice president of academic and student affairs effective May 1. He is currently vice president for academic and student affairs at the State University of New York’s Sullivan campus, Loch Sheldrake, New York. He has for 30 years held positions and leadership roles at a number of colleges and universities.
As provost and vice president of academic and student affairs, he reports to the president and serves as the chief academic officer for the college, providing leadership for the NCC’s four schools, as well as the student life and student affairs areas. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English/American Civilization from Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio, a master’s degrees in American studies from New York University and the University of Alabama. earned as doctorate in education degree from Athabasca University, Alberta, Canada.
Graybeal to study in New Zealand
Sam Graybeal, of Bethlehem, a Lebanon Valley College student, will study in New Zealand this spring. The study abroad program is part of the LVC student experience opportunities. The Liberty H.S. graduate is pursuing a bachelor of science in exercise science.
Cedar Crest College’s Delphi inducts residents
Ali Fahad A Balubaid and Carter Reichard of Bethlehem have joined Delphi Cedar Crest college’s honor society for undergraduate students. Students who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.8 at the end of their junior or senior year are recognized as members. s
NCC’s Phi Theta Kappa adds several locals
The Tau Gamma chapter inducted several new members into the Northampton Community College Bethlehem campus group Nov. 28, 2022. A live, on-ground formal induction to honor fall and spring inductees is planned for March 2023.
To be invited to join the chapter, local residents met GPA and college credit qualifications.
