Charles “Charlie” M. Bowman Sr., 90, of Freemansburg, died March 18, 2023 in the care of Northampton Post Acute, Easton. He was the husband of the late Rose (Weinperl) Reccek Bowman. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Howard and Emma (Gabron) Bowman.
He was in the U.S. Marines.
He was a police officer for the Freemansburg Police Department for many years, where he was the chief officer. He worked at Champion Spark Plugs for several years until he retired. He was a former mayor of Freemansburg. He was a Freemansburg council member for many years.
He was a life member of the former Trinity and a member of St. Thomas U.C.C. churches, Freemansburg.
He was a member of the American Legion and Steel City Gun Club. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He is survived by a son, Charles M. Jr and wife Loretta of Bethlehem Township; two stepchildren, Kathleen Dreisigmeyer of Freemansburg and Darryl Reccek Sr., and wife Lynn of Bethlehem; eight grandchildren, Raymond Dreisigmeyer and wife Shelly, Brian Dreisigmeyer and wife Denise, Darryl Reccek Jr. and wife Melissa, Sherry Buss and husband Rick, Michelle Carlough and husband Tom, Melissa Bowman, Ian Thomas and Casey Cesari; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew Dreisigmeyer Sr. and fiancée Miranda Kirchner, Hayley Dreisigmeyer, Nathan Bowman and Teagan Carlough, Tanner, Trevor Buss, Loren Cesari and Jane Cesari; and two great-great-grandchildren, Matthew Dreisigmeyer Jr. and Jaylin Kirchner.
