“How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” brings corporate satire into the spotlight, 7 p.m. March 30, 31, April 1; 1 p.m. April 1, auditorium, Liberty High School, 1115 Linden St., Bethlehem.
Director Julie Wydrzynski is assisted by Assistant Director Laura Mainiero, Music Director Allen Frank, Choreographer Jennifer Dorn, Technical Director-Set Builder Ross Makary and student Stage Manager Harley Cooper.
The musical comedy follows J. Pierrepont Finch’s rise from window-washer to chairman of the board of the World Wide Wicket Company.
The musical, with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, and book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert, is based on the bestselling novel of the same title by Shepherd Mead.
The original 1961 Broadway production received seven Tony Awards of eight Tony nominations and a 1962 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
The 1995 Broadway revival received one Tony Award of four Tony nominations. The 2011 Broadway revival received one Tony Award of seven Tony nominations.
Songs include “Brotherhood of Man,” “Coffee Break,” “The Company Way” and “Grand Old Ivy,” the latter featuring a dance routine by the Liberty High principal and staff members.
