Walter J. Steinmacher, 87, of Orefield, died March 20, 2023.

He and his wife, Geraldine (LoPresti) Steinmacher, were married 66 years last June.

Born in Hungary, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Altmann) Steinmacher.

He worked for the former Schaefer and Stroh’s breweries.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church, Orefield.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children John Steinmacher (Marianne) of Orefield and Joanne Nelson (Michael) of Wimauma, Fla.; grandchildren Thomas Steinmacher (Doreen) and Joseph Steinmacher (Michelle); great-grandchildren Miriam and Philip; and sister Mary Anne McLaughlin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. March 23 at St. Joseph The Worker Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield.

Visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the church. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church.
