Those looking for a reason to celebrate the impending arrival of summer can book an evening out to enjoy exquisite food and beverages, live music and dancing, while helping our region’s children with disabilities and chronic or terminal illnesses.
A “Believe in the Magic” social to be held in downtown Allentown will benefit the mission of Camelot for Children, a nonprofit organization which raises money for children with disabilities and chronic or terminal illnesses to attend a summer camp designed to allow them just to be kids.
Sponsored this year by Lehigh Valley Press, the parent organization of this newspaper, the “Swanky Speakeasy Soiree” will be held 6 to 9 p.m. May 13 at the renovated event venue that formerly was a bank along Hamilton Street in Allentown.
The Fritz Speakeasy is nestled beneath the Great Hall at Vault 634 in the former headquarters of the Lehigh Valley Trust Company in downtown Allentown. Inspired by the bank’s rich history and economic success in the 1920s, The Fritz was designed to hearken back to the Roaring Twenties, transporting guests to the Prohibition era location, hidden out of site from passersby.
The Fritz is equipped with a 12-seat bar offering a wide variety of craft cocktails, wines and beers to members, guests as well as the occasional bootlegger.
The tickets are $150 each and a limited number are available online. Go to the website camelotforchildren.org then click on Third Annual Believe in the Magic Social - A Swanky Speakeasy Soiree and follow the prompts.
