Northwestern Lehigh’s Katie Brensinger took third place at the MyHouse Pennsylvania Girls Wrestling State Championships last weekend.
Brensinger opened the tournament with a major decision (10-1) over Tulpehocken’s Katalyna Borreli before pinning Grace O’Korn (Peters Township) in the 142-pound quarterfinal match.
The Tiger junior ran into the tournament’s eventual champ Zoey Haines (Gettysburg) in the semifinals and dropped a 10-0 decision.
Brensinger wrestled back with a win in a consolation bout, 6-0 over Cumberland Valley’s Kyra Rau, to earn a trip to the third-place bout.
In the medal match, Brensinger pulled out a 6-4 sudden victory overtime decision.
