Saucon Valley HS presented Mary Poppins the musical. The musical version has been adopted from the 1934 original novel by P.L. Travers and the 1964 Walt Disney movie production. The story is about a magical British nanny who is hired by a family with mischievous children. Saucon Valley’s Mary Poppins is directed by Felicia Stone and was performed from March 9 through 12. In addition, Saucon Valley’s production sponsored a “Feed the Birds” fundraiser for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Mary Poppins is played by Alana Weirbach. The Mary Poppins character was originally played by Academy Award winning actress Julie Andrews in the 1964 film adaption.
Mrs. Winifred Banks is played by Ayla Skubera. Mrs. Banks is a member of the suffragette movement and is the wife of George and mother of Jane and Michael.
Bert, on the left, is played by Eli Jones and Mr. George Banks, on the right, is played by John Murphy. Bert is the upbeat, energetic jack of all trades while Mr. Banks is the stern, no-nonsense banker.
