Catasauqua High School brings back the Middle Ages with performances of “Pippin,” 7 p.m. March 17, 18; 2 p.m. March 19, Catasauqua High School, 2500 W. Bullshead Road, Allen Townshiip.
Director John Leiderman is assisted by Assistant Director-Choreographer Marissa Brewer, Music Director Greg Snider and Orchestra Director Rob Arnold.
In the tale told by the Leading Player, head of a mysterious performance troupe, Pippin is a prince searching for meaning and significance.
With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, the libretto was written by Roger O. Hirson.
The 1972 Broadway premiere was directed by Bob Fosse, with the musical nominated for 11 Tony Awards, receiving five Tonys. The 2013 Broadway revival was nominated for 10 Tony Awards, receiving four Tonys.
Signature songs include “Magic to Do,” “Corner of the Sky,” “No Time At All,” “Extraordinary” and “I Guess I’ll Miss the Man.”
