At the Feb. 16 Upper Milford Township board of supervisors meeting, a proposal from resident Noah Schreiner, pertaining to a pollinator garden at Jasper Park, was discussed.
Schreiner and his sister Annika are both involved in environmental issues and are currently studying biology and pollinators. Their mother, Tasia Schreiner, sits on the Emmaus Borough/Upper Milford Township Joint Environmental Advisory.
Upper Milford Township Secretary/Treasurer Jessi O’Donald explained “they are proposing that we (the township) take the field that was the old Girl Scout loop back by the billboard … so the little part way in the back, that just has the walking loop around it, and allow that to grow-up.”
The idea of having a meadow by the billboard has already been discussed at the recreation committee, as well as the Joint Environmental Advisory Council.
The meadow would be similar to the one planted at Churchview Park.
One of the ideas under consideration is to have a “kids’ day” with a number of activities at the park, including planting pollinators.
Supervisors expressed support in pursuing this idea under consideration.
