Upper Milford Historical Society offers lectures through Oct. 26

Programs announced

The Upper Milford Historical Society will host monthly meetings the last Thursday of each month through October.

The meetings start 7 p.m. and are held in the auditorium of the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St., unless otherwise noted.

There is a cost for membership.

Jeff Marshall will present the program “Sherlock Homes” March 30. Participants will learn about how a “house detective” investigates an old house.

Sue and Bill Weber will talk about the history and renovation of their historic home in the township April 27.

A program about the village of Vera Cruz will be featured May 25.

Dave Lobach will lead a field trip to Walbert Log Cabin. Participants will meet at the township building 6:30 p.m. and carpool to the historic cabin June 29.

The historical society will host its annual picnic 6 p.m. July 27. Details will be announced as plans are finalized.

A history of Old Zionsville will be presented Aug. 31.

Mike Jesberger will present a program on baseball during the Civil War in the United States Sept. 28.

Peter Smith will talk about growing up in Shimerville in the mid-20th century Oct. 26 in the closing program of the year.
