District News: Teacher in-service March 10; no school for students

There will be no classes March 10 due to a teacher in-service.

Whitehall-Coplay School District’s Night at the Phantoms game will begin 4:05 p.m. March 12, with a youth jersey giveaway. The first 1,500 fans 14 and under will receive a free jersey.

Five dollars from each ticket sold will benefit Zephyr Pride Foundation. Get your tickets and come join the fun!

Steckel Elementary School students will have a spring picture day March 15. All students will receive a boutique-style session, with four poses, by Christmas City Studio.

Digital options start at $20. Prints start at $7. If you purchase a digital file, you will be able to access your online portrait gallery within 48 hours to view and order, as long as email addresses were provided.

Paper proofs will be delivered to school within one week.

All packages ordered will be shipped directly to your home.

On March 17 and 24, if Steckel Elementary students bring $1 to lunch, they will receive a freeze pop. All donations will go toward Steckel’s fundraising goal toward the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lehigh Valley program.

On April 2, some Steckel staff members will be bowling for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Staff members will be supporting the mission to create one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth right in the Lehigh Valley. Many of the Steckel students are a part of this amazing program.

Tickets are now on sale for Whitehall High School’s spring musical, “9 to 5,” planned for 7 p.m. March 30-April 1 and 2 p.m. April 2.

Whitehall Waves Aquatic Club is looking for swimmers. Registration is open now through March 31. Sessions will run April 11-May 19.

Additionally, Whitehall Rising Stars is looking for girls in grades 3-6 to join its winter camp. All ability levels are welcome.

Some third-grade students at Steckel are participating in an after-school STEM program, which began the week of Feb. 28 and continues through April 27.

Parents/guardians, make sure your child stays on the appropriate day, depending on if he or she is a Tuesday or Thursday attendee.
