District News: Students to have spring pictures taken
Smile! Spring pictures are occurring this month. All students will be photographed, but purchase is always an option. Dan’s Camera will be taking the photographs of the students.

Northampton Area School District’s elementary students ended the second trimester March 6. Report cards will be available on the Sapphire community web portal beginning March 15.
For Northampton Area Middle School and Northampton Area High School students, the third marking period will end March 27. Report cards will be available on Sapphire April 5.

Registration is open for the NASD’s spring community education program. Classes are open to residents and nonresidents and held at Siegfried Elementary School, 1677 Lincoln Ave., Northampton.
Doors open 6:15 p.m., and classes will begin 6:30 p.m.
Please park in the lots in the back of the school by the softball field and flagpole.
Zumba classes will continue March 15, 22 and 29, for a $10 drop-in fee. Yoga will begin April 4 and will continue Tuesdays through April 25 for $30, with a $10 drop-in fee.

Northampton Are High School Theater’s spring musical will be “Chicago - the Teen Edition,” set for 7 p.m. March 23, 24 and 25 and 2 p.m. March 26 in the school’s auditorium. You can purchase tickets by visiting NASD’s website, nasdschools.org. At the door, only cash or check will be accepted.
Ages 5 and under are free; ages 6-12 are $5; adults are $15; and seniors 55 and older, military, students and faculty (ID required) are $10.

Registration for kindergarten for the 2023-24 academic year began Jan. 12.
To register your child online, visit the NASD website, click on the Enroll Now button to the right, then click the 2023-2024 Kindergarten Registration link and follow the directions. Admission to kindergarten requirements are that a child must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1. Admission to first grade requires a child must be 6 years old on or before Sept. 1.
There are health requirements to register, including immunization record showing the following: four doses of tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis (one dose on or after the fourth birthday), four doses of polio (fourth dose on or after the fourth birthday and at least six months after previous dose given), two doses of measles, mumps and rubella (usually given as MMR), three doses of hepatitis B and two doses of varicella (chickenpox) or evidence of immunity.
Physical and dental examinations are also required for entrance into kindergarten and may be completed up to one year prior to entrance into kindergarten. The dental form and physical form for these exams are available on the NASD website.
Other requirements to enroll include uploading the following: two proofs of current residency, which can be any of these - a utility bill, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation identification or driver’s license, PennDOT vehicle registration, copy of state/federal program enrollment, copy of paycheck stub with name and address of employee and employer, residency affidavit or copy of mortgage, lease or rental agreement; original birth certificate for child; and custody papers (if applicable).
