Allen supervisors discuss queuing issue

At the Allen Township Board of Supervisors meeting Feb. 28, supervisors provided an update on the Geodis queuing issue.

Tractor-trailers bound for the Geodis warehouse, 951 Willowbrook Road, have been queuing and parking along the road, causing traffic issues.

Township Manager Ilene Eckhart said she made contact with CenterPoint, the owner of the building, who was unaware of the issue occurring.

CenterPoint has since reached out to its tenant regarding “issues with their lease arrangement due to that noncompliance,” Eckhart said.

Later in the meeting, supervisors discussed making both sides of Willowbrook Road a “no parking, stopping or standing zone.” They also discussed using just signs or signs and striping.

A draft ordinance will be created and advertised before it is approved.

In other business, Jacob Schock, fire company president, came before the board to discuss the company’s capital improvement plan.

In August 2021, supervisors approved the purchase of a new pumper firetruck with an elevated aerial. That truck has yet to arrive, and it looks like it won’t be ready until the end of the year.

Schock said the department plans to consolidate its 20-year-old tanker and 15-year-old truck into one vehicle to save on maintenance costs. Knowing that firetruck delivery takes longer than it used to, he asked the board to accelerate the capital improvement plan.

The board made a motion allowing the fire company to come up with the specifications and get pricing to bring back to the board.

Allen Township supervisors will next meet 6 p.m. March 14 in the fire department building, 3530 Howertown Road.
