Ruth A. (Wasser) Barber, 91, of Allentown, died Feb. 14, 2023, in Phoebe Home, Allentown, She was the wife of the late Leslie C. Barber. They were married almost 70 years before his death last year. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Louis W. and Elsie T. (Haber) Wasser.

She was a graduate of Allentown High School. She was a bookkeeper for Frank Haberle and later worked as an aide and secretary at Lehigh Parkway Elementary School.

She was a member of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, where she was an office volunteer for many years and was a former member of the Fellowship Committee and Consistory.

Family was very important to her and she always enjoyed hosting holidays.

She is survived by daughters, Deborah A. and her husband, James V. Smith, Linda L. and her husband, Mark N. Held, all of Allentown; sons, Robert J. and his wife, Cecily S., of Fayetteville, Thomas A. and his wife, Julie K., of West Chester, Ohio; brother, Louis A. Wasser and his wife, Shirley, of Reading; sister, Ann E. and her husband, David Hohe, of Allentown; brother-in-law, Kenneth and his wife, Patricia, of Middletown, N.J.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Dolores Knieriem, Sarah Merrick and Mary Auman.
