Joseph Fatul, 89, of Coplay, died Feb. 18, 2023, at home. He was the husband of Rita (Groff) Fatul for 60 years.

Born in Javorce, Hungary (now Javorce, Slovakia), he was a son of the late Simon and Sydonia (Nemeth) Fatul.

He worked in the textile industry and later in maintenance at Christ the King School, Coplay.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Heidi Detweiler and son-in-law Roy Detweiler III; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Detweiler; a brother-in-law, Robert Groff; a sister, Ankara and her husband Miro Havranko; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Stephen; and two sisters, Magda and Mary.

There will be a Mass of Christian burial 10:30 a.m. March 6, which would have been his 90th birthday, at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., Coplay, 18037.

Contributions may be made to the church.
